West Lothian Walking Football held a 12 hour charity Walking Football day at Xcite Bathgate last Sunday in aid of Prostate Scotland.
Over 80 players took part from 10 teams, with the first game starting at 8am, and the last finishing at 8pm raising close to £3000.
Teams were made up of the local groups as well as Raith Rovers, Dunfermline Athletic, Shotts Bon Accord and Stenhousemuir.
Local MP Kirsteen Sullivan has been a long time campaigner for improved Prostate screening and awareness called in to support the players and the organisers.
Kirsteen came back to watch the last few games, the last of which included her husband who had volunteered to make his Walking Football debut!
The event organiser, John Innes was keen to thank all of those who helped, played and supported the cause. Xcite provided the pitches free of charge; Bathgate Thistle Community Football supplied water, snacks and match balls; and Pumpherston Auto Centre, valuable sponsorship.
Jim Barrie, who leads the WLWF group spoke at the end, encouraging the aims of Walking Football – fitness, friendship and fun.
There are Walking Football games organised at Bathgate, Whitburn, East Calder, and Murieston and all are welcome to give it a go.
