RIPs Muswell Hill WFC raise over £15K for Prostate Cancer

For the second year running, RIPs Muswell Hill WFC hosted a 24+ hour walking football challenge at Power League Barnet in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

In conjunction with Prostate Cancer UK and Power League, RIPs invited 14 visiting teams to play against them in a continuous walking football game over two days. It was the hottest week of the year so far, but play continued from 10am to 10pm on both days, with copious water breaks during and between games.

Over £12,250 was donated, all of which will go directly to PCUK. The club achieved this without incurring a single expense, and beat last year’s total of £8,200 too. This much-needed income will be used in their vital research into this terrible disease which 1 in 8 men will suffer from at some stage in their lives. A man dies from Prostate Cancer in this country every 45 minutes.

A sister game in Romford which the club helped set up and supported raised a further£3,500.

Information, flyers and free T-shirts were given out and clubs were asked to tell all their players about the importance of a yearly PSA test. The club estimate they have got that message across to around 2,500 men.
