King’s Lynn Walking Football Club’s over-60s side has been crowned champions of the FDC Norwich League for the 2025/26 season after an impressive campaign.

The Lynn squad overcame strong competition from NSS Grey, Erpingham WFC, NSS Mix, Brundall Over 60s and Horsford WFC to secure the title.

They finished the season with seven wins and one draw from their 10 matches, recording a goal difference of 14.

Their consistency throughout the campaign proved decisive, with Lynn finishing just one point ahead of NSS Greys at the top of the final league standings to claim the championship.

Lynn’s squad consisted of: Andy Howling, Chris Bradford, Mark Steele, Ken Hubbard, Andy Osborne, Nigel Clark, Chris Hoody, Dean Harnwell, Gary Pearman, Peter Crome, Michael Wan, Phil Pottle, Brian Booth, Steve Jackson, David Ward, Ian Williams, Chris Dewey, John Canvin and Tom Cheung.

The success of the over-60s team highlights the growing popularity of walking football in the area, with club members keen to encourage more people to get involved.

Walking football gives residents of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels a chance to stay active while enjoying the game’s social and physical benefits.

The Lynn-based club currently fields competitive teams in the Norwich FDC League for both over-60s and over-65s players.

Training sessions are held every Monday from 11am to 1pm on the 3G pitches at Lynnsport.

The £5.50 session fee covers the full two-hour training period and includes a tea or coffee afterwards, giving participants the chance to socialise as well as keep fit.

Club members say the sport is an excellent way to maintain both physical and mental wellbeing while remaining involved in football.

New players and spectators are always welcome to attend a session, watch the action and speak with current members about the benefits of the sport.
