The women’s team from Romford Walking FC recently took part in the Essex Women’s Walking Football League Cup.
Their campaign began with a 3-0 defeat against a strong Billericay Blues side.
A much tighter contest followed against Harlow Town, but Romford were edged out 1-0.
Another tough fixture came next, with the team suffering defeat to Beacon Hill.
Romford bounced back in style against Billericay Reds, recording a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Alison Harrold, Joan Richards, and Louise Bixby.
In their final group game, Romford were beaten 1-0 by Hawkwell Athletic, leaving them to face Billericay Whites in the quarter-finals.
It proved another closely fought encounter, but Romford narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals after a 1-0 defeat.
The squad was made up of Elaine Shervill, Michelle Harris, Georgina Wiseman, Louise Bixby, Joan Richards, Nicola Seabrook, Alison Harrold, Jane Alexander, and Rachael Purkiss.
Romford Women’s team are currently looking to recruit new players.
