Organisers of Bolton’s Walking Football Tournament, taking place on September 26, have announced a wildcard charity entry, giving charities, CICs and social enterprises the chance to win a free place in the competition.

The tournament takes place at Active Bolton Arena, with community players having the chance to play against Bolton Wanderers Legends and win a trophy.

One free place will be awarded to an organisation selected at random from all valid entries.

The prize value is the £200 team entry fee.

With up to 12 players permitted per team – including roll-on substitutes throughout each match – £17 entry per head also represents great value for any community teams looking to take one of a handful of places remaining in the final build-up.

The day will also see former Bolton Wanderers players John McGinlay and Keith Hill, confirmed to take part, lending their support to the event.

The tournament is part of iconic local fundraiser and fitness pioneer, Ken Heathcote’s NotOutAt90 campaign, and proceeds will support three chosen charities – the Stroke Association, Cancer Research UK and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Bolton’s Inaugural Charity Walking Football Tournament takes place at Bolton Arena on Saturday week, 9.30am for a 10am kick-off.

Entry is £200 per team, based on a maximum squad of 12 (roll-on subs), less than £17 per person.
