The York City Football Club Foundation today welcomed the Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, to the LNER Community Stadium to find out more about the Foundation’s work transforming lives across the city through sport, health and community engagement.

Paula Stainton, Chief Executive of York City Football Club Foundation, welcomed Archbishop Stephen to the Foundation’s Community Hub. From there, they visited the Stadium mini-pitches, where local young people take part in activities designed to encourage physical activity, teamwork and confidence. They then met participants from the Walking Football programme, delivered in partnership with Parkinson’s UK, which provides opportunities for people living with Parkinson’s to stay active, improve wellbeing and enjoy the social benefits of regular physical activity.

Our focus is on improving wellbeing and creating opportunities where everyone feels included, connected and able to thrive through the power of football.
