Free health checks, guest speakers and walking football are among the activities planned at Westport United Park

A special community event aimed at promoting men’s health, wellbeing and social connection will take place at Westport United Park on Monday, June 16, as part of Men’s Health Week 2026.

Organised by The Family Centre Castlebar, the free event will run from 10am to 11.30am and will bring together local health services, community organisations and support groups to encourage men to take positive steps towards improving both their physical and mental wellbeing.

The morning will feature a range of activities and information services designed to create awareness around men’s health.

One of the key attractions will be free health checks provided by Croí, including blood pressure monitoring, health information and practical advice.

A number of information stands will also be present, highlighting local services and supports available to men throughout Mayo.

Attendees will hear from a series of guest speakers who will share personal experiences and motivational messages focused on resilience, wellbeing, community connection and overcoming challenges. Organisers hope these talks will encourage open conversations around health and wellbeing while helping to break down barriers that can prevent men from seeking support.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about Walking Football, a growing sport that offers a fun and accessible way for people of all ages and fitness levels to stay active. Participants will be able to find out more about the game and even get involved during the event.

Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available throughout the morning, helping to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where attendees can meet others and access information.

Organisers say the event is designed to provide a supportive environment where men can connect with their community while learning more about the practical steps they can take to improve their overall health and wellbeing.

The event will take place at Westport United Park, Westport, and is open to all men.
