A walking football club for people with Parkinson’s in Dorset has closed out another memorable season in style.
The Dorset Parky Striders, based in Bournemouth, celebrated the end of the season with a gala awards ceremony at West Moors Bowls Club on Sunday, July 12.
It was an evening of laughter, reflection, and recognition, attended by players, partners, families, and friends.
Mark Seal, team manager, said: “The trophies recognise individual achievements, but the real winners are all of the players.
“Every week they support each other, enjoy their football and share plenty of laughs along the way.
“Together they continue to show that while Parkinson’s may shape their journey, it never defines the people walking – and playing football – through it.”
Among the winners on the night was Simon Smale, who took home the Golden Boot for the second year running.
Kevin Jones received the Players’ Player award, while Chris Martin was named Most Improved Player.
The Manager’s Award went to Dave Muskett in recognition of his service to the club, and the Endeavour Award was given to club photographer Colin Martin.
A new Entertainment Award was also introduced, with Mr Muskett and Nigel Jump both honoured for their musical contributions throughout the season.
With tournaments and friendlies already in the diary, the club is already looking ahead to another exciting season.
