16 Aug 2026 2 min read No comments Women’s WF

In June the Women’s Premier League team played in the County Cup. Initially there was a group stage with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals.

The team won all 5 matches at this stage, defeating Beacon Hill Rovers White 2-0, Stanway Rovers 4-0, Billericay Town White 2-0, Valley Green Diamonds 1-0 and Leyton Orient 1-0. Their semi-final was against Leyton Orient again with a score of 0-0, but Pirates won the penalty shootout. The final against Beacon Hill Rovers was close, but ultimately Pirates lost 0-1.

In the same competition, the Women’s Championship League team did enough to go through at the group stage, but lost their semi-final.

In July in the League, the Premier Division side had a somewhat disappointing last day of the season, winning only one match, drawing three and losing one. The day started with a 0-1 defeat to Beacon Hill Rovers, followed by back to back 0-0 draws with Billericay Town Blue and Valley Green Diamonds. Next, Pirates beat Leyton Orient 1-0 before drawing the final fixture 0-0 with Hawkwell Athletic. Results on the day, meant that Pirates lost a place to finish the season in 3rd place.

Also in July, in the League, the Championship Division also played their last matches of the 2026 season. Pirates had a good, undefeated day. They started with a 0-0 draw against Stanway Rovers and followed with a 1-1 draw with Billericay Town White. Then came two 1-0 victories over Valley Green Emeralds and Billericay Town Red. Then it was back to a 0-0 draw with Beacon Hill Rovers White, before winning their final match 2-0 against Romford. The results meant that they clawed back the 2 points deficit over Billericay Town White, but disappointingly finished 2nd in the table on goal difference.

The Men’s Over 60s and the Over 65s both had their scheduled League sessions postponed because of the high temperatures and these matches are now due to be played in September and October.

The Men’s Over 70s did play one of their two scheduled League session, but had a disappointing day. They started with a 0-0 draw with Eastwood Falcons Blue before suffering a controversial defeat to Barnet by 1-2. Results on the day saw them slip one place to 6th in the table. On the day. they also played a friendly match against Leyton Orient Red that Pirates won 1-0.

No matches are arranged for August and the Men’s season restarts in September.

If you are interested in playing, please look at the Club’s website https://www.harlowtownpirates.org.uk for more information.

We have many members who do not wish to play competitively, but only come along to our weekly sessions at Harlow Town Football Club.
