Walking football teams have been praised for their competitiveness after playing through scorching heat.
Eastleigh and Winchester triumphed in a summer tournament held at Places Leisure Eastleigh on last Saturday, which featured special guests Guernsey, who flew over from their Channel Island for the day.
The event included two age categories: over-50 and over-65.
Eastleigh’s over-50s team took home the title with a 3-0 victory over Portsmouth in the final.
In the over-65s bracket, Winchester edged out the hosts to secure the win.
Eastleigh Walking Football chairman John Hunter said: “They all put on a competitive festival of football, despite the heat, and were a credit to the sport.”
Around 80 players took part in the tournament.
Trophies were presented by Jen Edwards-Hutt of Sunnybank House Luxury Care Home, event sponsors.
