Bromley FC Community Trust is making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals living with Parkinson’s through its dedicated Walking Football sessions, creating a safe, inclusive and uplifting environment where participants can stay active, rebuild confidence and reconnect with the joy of the game.

Delivered weekly by qualified coaches, the sessions are carefully designed to support both physical and social wellbeing. Activities focus on improving coordination, balance and motor skills, alongside gentle aerobic exercise tailored to suit a range of abilities.

The emphasis is not on competition, but on participation, enjoyment and progress at a comfortable pace.

The impact of the sessions is clear in the voices of those who attend. One participant reflected on the experience, saying: “They’re great fun and you sort of forget sometimes that you’ve actually got Parkinson’s.”

Beyond the physical benefits, the sessions offer a vital sense of community. For many, it’s the opportunity to connect with others who understand similar challenges that makes the biggest difference. As one participant shared: “The social side of it is really nice as well — the time whizzes by.”

For others, it’s a chance to rediscover a lifelong love of football. The sessions have seen individuals return to the pitch after decades away from the game: “It was great to see people who haven’t played since they were teenagers suddenly springing into life again.”

By fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, Bromley FC Community Trust is helping participants stay active, rebuild confidence and enjoy football in a way that is both accessible and deeply meaningful.
