Women’s walking football is flourishing at Stratford Town FC, and the club’s newly-formed side has wasted no time making its mark on the competitive scene.

The team recently participated in a 16-team tournament organised by the Birmingham Women’s Walking Football League, where they were drawn in a challenging group alongside established clubs Birmingham, Arden Forest and Inkberrow.

Despite being new to competition, Stratford performed superbly, dominating large periods of play and only missing out on topping the group due to a last-minute penalty.

Progressing into the finals stage, the team faced strong opposition from Kettering, Boldmere and Coventry, once again producing excellent performances and doing themselves proud. Their only defeat came against the eventual winners, Boldmere.

Chairman Paul Clarke said: “This marks a significant milestone for the club as we continue to grow the women’s game locally. We are now running dedicated women’s walking football sessions, with increasing interest and participation each week.”

The team now looks ahead to their next challenge, travelling to Nottingham on 5th April to compete in another prestigious tournament.
