Aspiring match officials are being encouraged to take their first steps into one of the fastest-growing areas of the game by booking a place on the FA Walking Football Referee Course taking place in Essex this September.
Walking Football has become increasingly popular, providing enjoyable, inclusive and competitive opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to stay active. Delivered by the Essex County FA at Colchester Sports Park on Saturday 5th September, the course is designed for individuals who want to referee Walking Football and support the continued growth of the format.
As participation continues to grow in Essex, so too does the demand for qualified referees capable of overseeing fixtures safely, fairly and confidently. The course will equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to officiate Walking Football matches, helping them to play an important role in supporting local clubs, leagues and competitions.
Essex County FA Referee Development Manager, Lukas Wood, explained: “Walking Football continues to grow at an incredible rate across Essex, creating fantastic opportunities for more people to enjoy the game in a fun, inclusive and welcoming environment. As the number of matches increases, we’re keen to recruit and develop more referees who are enthusiastic about supporting the game and helping ensure every fixture is a positive experience for everyone involved.”
“Whether you’re an existing referee looking to broaden your experience, or someone completely new to officiating, this course provides an excellent introduction to Walking Football refereeing, and the chance to become part of a thriving football community.”
