Ingenio Day Center team shine in inter-island walking football tournament

A group of about 20 users of the Ingenio Day Center for Seniors participated in the inter-island meeting of the project «AlGolpito» in mid-June, held at the UD Las Palmas Sports City, in Barranco Seco.

This initiative, developed with the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands and the UD Las Palmas Foundation, brought together older people from Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote in a day of sport, coexistence and active aging.

During the meeting, a walking soccer tournament was held, an adapted modality that encourages physical activity, teamwork and social participation of older people. Ingenio’s team put in an outstanding performance, reaching the semifinals and placing itself among the four best participating teams.

In addition to the sports competition, attendees enjoyed a day of coexistence marked by music, camaraderie and the exchange of experiences with participants from other islands.

The Ingenio Day Center for Seniors values this experience very positively, which promotes healthy habits, social relationships and active participation in the community.
