Glasgow Green has been flooded with just under 1000 visitors as it hosts Walking Football Scotland’s Scottish Cup.
The tournament features nine categories, featuring men’s, women’s and mixed sex competitions as well as a bracket for players with Parkinson’s Disease.
Sponsored by Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, it is the world’s largest one-day walking football event, bringing a massive 96 teams to the football centre.
Teams kicked off at 10.15am this morning with games to continue all the way up until 5pm.
Clubs could enter men’s squads from over 50s up to over 75s whilst women’s were open for admissions from over 40s and over 50s.
Danny Kelly, player for St Anthony’s over 50s men’s team, said: “It’s a great day for everyone involved. There’s boys taking part of all ages and it can get a bit serious but that’s the mentality that keeps you going.
“This is the second year I’ve done it and it’s great, it’s right at the start of the holidays so you come and enjoy it and you’re talking about it for a few months afterwards.
“You get to see the best of the other guys who come and its great for guys our age who maybe at one point thought they wouldn’t be able to do something like this again.”
