MELROSE Rugby Club, home of the Southern Knights, played host to the Borders’ first ever Walking Rugby Festival – and only the second ever held in Scotland.
More than 40 players aged from 45 to 80 years old took part from a number of clubs, including Edinburgh BATS, Midlothian Walking Rugby and a joint team from Melrose and Southern Knights’ sponsors CGI, who backed the community initiative.
Teams competed across two pitches in a round robin format, with Edinburgh BATS and Melrose/CGI reaching the final. In a close contest, Edinburgh BATS were victorious to take the first ever Borders title.
