The Old Bexhillians Walking Football Club and seniors and juniors of Little Common Football Club joined forces on Sunday 10th May at the latter’s home ground in Little Common to take part in a Charity Fun Day in aid of Veterans Growth.
This is a military charity that was formed to assist representatives of the three armed forces – the Navy, Army & Royal Air Force – who need help in improving their all-round wellbeing.
Organised by OBs member Jimmy Johnson with the assistance of Mick Davies and officials of the club, a great day of football was organised.
The clubhouse was open for refreshments and the Wheatsheaf Inn in the village – one of the OBs club sponsors was available for participants and spectators at the end of the day. Thanks to both clubs for the organising on the day and a big thank you to both clubs’ players who gave up a large part of their Sunday to make the event possible.
The Old Bexhillians fundraise for local and national charities and combine this with their football activities.
They run social sessions as well as organise competitive football with three sessions a week and league and Walking Football Association National Cup games during the year.
Details on the club can be obtained from club chair Mick Davies on mobile 07961 008743 or by email on mickdavies48@gmail.com Walking football is open to men from the age of 50 and women from the age of 40.
