A new women’s walking football team is inviting players aged 40 and above to lace up their boots and join the fun.
Waspettes United Walking Football Club is in Basingstoke and is set to become a hub of activity for women looking to stay active, make friends, and rediscover the joys of football in a supportive setting.
The team is encouraging women of all abilities to get involved, whether they’re returning to the sport after a break or trying it out for the first time.
A spokesman for the club said: “We want to offer our team to Basingstoke to recruit women who want to play and keep fit, having fun whilst doing it.
“Waspettes United Walking Football Club is the newest women’s walking football team in Basingstoke for ladies over the age of 40, and we are looking for new members to join the hive.
“For many, this is the first opportunity for a long time to play an organised team sport, so when they do, they discover the camaraderie that comes as an added benefit.”
Walking football is played at a slower pace, with no running allowed, and focuses on fun, fitness, and friendship.
The spokesman said: “So, whether you’re returning to football after years away or trying it for the very first time, walking football is a fantastic way to enjoy the game at a slower pace, with no running and plenty of laughs along the way.”
Waspettes United trains on Mondays and Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm in Basingstoke.
The team offers a free taster session for anyone interested.
