Prostate Cancer UK changing the game for men as walking football captures the imagination
The cadence on the pitch may be slower, but Prostate Cancer UK’s walking football community is growing at pace – and you can get involved and help change the game for men.
Whether you’ve been playing walking football for years or you’re just discovering the beautiful game, there’s plenty of ways to get involved. From raising awareness to fundraising with your teammates, every game counts.
1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer, but with each game, you can play for something bigger than a trophy and help us strive towards a world where no man dies from this disease.
Moulton Masters Walking Football Club, Northampton are among those clubs who are raising funds and awareness, after a number of their members were diagnosed with prostate cancer. Their 12-hour walking football challenge on 4th July 2026 from 7am to 7pm, also marks the re-opening of Moulton Football club’s extended clubhouse.
With plenty of players stepping up and taking turns on the pitch, you’ll keep the energy up and the ball moving – all while raising vital awareness and funds. Add food, music and some friendly banter and you’ve got all the ingredients for a truly unforgettable day.

Moulton Masters event organiser Pete McCrone said: “All of us male walking footballers are men of a certain age, and a number of our members have benefited from the early diagnosis of Prostate Cancer. We are keen that our 12-hour walking football match not only raises much needed funds but also encourages men to get themselves checked for prostate cancer.”
Jack Bacon, Prostate Cancer UK Community Fundraising Manager, said: “We’re thrilled at the success of our walking football programme which has really caught the imagination of our supporters in recent years.

“Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. 1 in 8 of our dads, brothers, grandads and mates will get it, and an early diagnosis can save your life. Right now, we still don’t have a full screening programme, but thanks to the walking football community raising key funds we can take steps towards changing that.
“Our amazing fundraisers across the UK are a brilliant demonstration of people coming together against prostate cancer. From playing football to running, cycling, walking and baking, they’re all doing something great to fund more ground-breaking research and work towards a screening programme, to catch prostate cancer early and save lives.”
