If you could sum up the benefits or enjoyment Walking Football brings you with a single quote, what would that quote be?

Walking Football has provided me with health, happiness, friendships and fun.

What are your best and worst memories of playing Walking Football?

Best – Regular playing with a great group of people.

Worst – Occasional injury resulting in not being able to play.

How else has playing Walking Football affected your life?

It’s given me a new purpose/focus to my days. I look forward to each day and meeting up/playing in the various sessions.

What do you like most about Walking Football?

Meeting up and having fun with everyone. Being able to talk, laugh and sometimes chat about medical issues!  Nice having a coffee after.

What do you like least about Walking Football?

Some people are over competitive which can take out the enjoyment of the sessions. We need to be aware that we all have different abilities.

Do you find it difficult NOT to run and what advice could you give someone in how to remain at walking pace?

Found it difficult at first and still do sometimes. You get more used to the pace when playing regularly but still have to think about it.

What are your goals for the future when playing Walking Football?

Just want to continue to enjoy the ‘beautiful’ game!

What advice would you give to someone who would like to play but is nervous about approaching a club or attending a Walking Football session for the first time?

Just give it a go like I did.  I was apprehensive about joining something new and meeting people.  Everyone is welcoming. If someone feels too nervous to play initially, just come along and watch.

What do your friends and family think about you playing a sport again at your age?

They think it’s great that I can continue to play the sport I love. They are pleased that I’m keeping fit and happier in myself.

What are the costs involved in order for you to play Walking Football for foot ware, kit and weekly session fees?

Session fees – £3-£5

Initial outlay for kit but lasts ages.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I’d like to thank everyone involved in organising the sessions. It’s one of the best things I’ve done and brought me out of myself socially. I’d recommend anyone to give it a go.
