Today we were joined by friends from Celtic Nations and Wales for a fantastic day of friendly walking football matches as we marked International Women’s Day with our International Women’s Day Walking Football Celebration 2026
The event celebrated women in sport while also raising awareness of breast cancer. Information and materials were shared from the charity CoppaFeel!, and thanks to everyone’s generosity we raised £186 in donations.
We were especially honoured to hear from Nicola, a breast cancer survivor who is now 10 years on. Nicola bravely shared her story and reminded everyone how important it is to check yourself regularly.
It was a wonderful day played in great spirit, friendship and support — showing the true power of football to bring people together.

History Made in Women’s Walking Football!
On 8 March 2026, the first ever Over-65s international match between England and Wales took place — a truly special moment for the game.
England secured a 1–0 victory, with the historic goal scored by Wendy Benson 
Taking place on International Women’s Day, this match celebrates not only competition and friendship between the nations, but also the incredible growth of women’s walking football at every age.
A wonderful milestone showing that football really is a game for life.
