A walking football tournament has helped to raise more than £3900 for a good cause.
Organised by Bellway, the fourth annual tournament took place at Fives Hamilton in support of children’s charity Variety Scotland.
Describing the idea behind the event, Marc Carty, construction secretary and mental health advocate for Bellway Homes Ltd (Scotland West), said: “We were keen to set up an event that wasn’t overly physical but still promoted mental and social being and walking football and provided a challenge.
“However, needless to say with all the teams on board, it’s still fairly competitive.”
Nine teams took part int his year’s tournament, with Akela Construction taking home first place and Hamilton builders STCS finishing as runners-up.
Other competitors included Total Scaffolding, Tough Construction, Hood Construction, Designer Contracts, Indev, and Jordan Electrics.
Moreover, the tournament received further donations from Advance/BS Plumbing, WH Hamilton, Scotia Windows, and Daylight Industrial Services.
Bellway has also launched a national partnership with Variety, committing to fund six Sunshine Coaches by 2027.
