Football club seek new players for ‘fast-growing’ version of the sport

A football club are inviting new players to join its growing walking football community

Winsford Town Walking Football Club hold weekly sessions every Friday from 7pm to 8.30pm at Winsford Academy, welcoming people of all ages and abilities in a relaxed, sociable setting.

Walking football is one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports, appealing to those who want to stay active through a slower-paced version of the game.

The sport is known for its physical and mental health benefits, helping to improve fitness, mobility, confidence and wellbeing, while also encouraging social connection.

Winsford Town Walking Football Club

The club promises a welcoming environment for former footballers, those seeking new ways to exercise, or anyone simply wanting to meet new people.

The first session is free, allowing newcomers to try walking football with no pressure to join.

Weekly sessions include training and friendly matches, plus opportunities to play competitively.

The club competes in a winter league and takes part in FA Cup competitions for players aged 50 and over.

Organisers focus on enjoyment, social interaction and building a sense of community, regardless of football background or ability.

New players are always welcome, and no prior experience of walking football is needed.
