A LUNCH was held to celebrate the fifth anniversary of a walking netball group.
Twenty members of the Shiplake Walking Netballers attended the event at Côte Brasserie in Bell Street, Henley.
Tamryn Settle and Juliette Coles have held weekly classes since 2019, including online netball fitness sessions during the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns.
The sessions, which are held at Shiplake Memorial Hall from 1.30pm to 2.30pm every Tuesday, include warm-up exercises and stretches plus ball skills, drills and competitive games…
The women also took part in a walking netball tournament organised at Shiplake College, featured on an England netball promotional film that was screened at international matches and appeared on BBC News talking about the importance of sport for all ages.
Ms Coles and Ms Settle were nominated by the group for a Henley Heroes award in 2019 as “inspiring individuals” and the club won community club of the year at the Oxfordshire Sports Awards.
