Walking Football for Over 50s with Bury FC in the Community
We currently work with Bridging the Gap project and BEATS to deliver a walking football session at Castle Leisure Centre, Tuesdays 11.15am-12pm. The session only costs £3.50 per session or free for gym members.
These sessions are heavily game focused and are based around having fun and playing recreational football. They give everyone who attends the opportunity to participate in a fun sport that can be enjoyed by all.
Walking football offers a multitude of health benefits to older people such as reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Positive changes in postural balance, blood pressure and resting heart rate, lowered cholesterol, improved blood sugar levels, bone density and improving reactions, whilst slashing the odds of suffering from type 2 diabetes – all indicators of general good health. Walking football is an excellent way of staying fit and healthy.
