In its first season in 2022-23 the league consisted of two divisions, east and west, in the over-50 age group, plus a league cup.

The Southern Combination Walking Football League quickly expanded and in 2023-24, bosses added the over-60 age group, again both in east and west, considerably increasing the number of players participating.

Phil Cousens was appointed referees’ secretary to help the process of allocation of officials to matches and the committee expanded to include league representatives.
