Blackburn Rovers Community Trust’s Walking Football team were named as Club of the Year at the recent WFA Awards at St George’s Park!
The awards, which were held at The Football Association’s elite national football centre in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, celebrated all things walking football.
BRCT introduced Rovers Rehab Walking Football sessions back in September, and they have proved popular with members of the local community who want to keep active and make new friends.
The programme, which is aimed at helping those living with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions, has benefited many lives across Blackburn with Darwen.
Tony Jones, from Rovers’ walking football group, said: “In presenting this prestigious award the Walking Football Association have recognised the tremendous effort by the volunteers and Community Trust staff at Blackburn Rovers Walking Football during 2022.
“The drive for inclusion has resulted in improved and expanded opportunities for everyone across the community to join in and play here.
