A fantastic weekend of Women’s Walking Football was held at Nottingham University on Saturday and Sunday 10th and 11th August.
Firstly, congratulations to all teams and players as the attitude and atmosphere on and off the pitch was exemplary all weekend.
We had over 30 teams register this year from all over the country across both ages and we hope to potentially run a 60s next year if there is enough demand.
Secondly congratulations to Bolton who beat Plymouth in the Over 40s Final to retain the cup and to Birmingham who beat Bolton in the Over 50s final – a repeat of the final last year with the same outcome.
Finally a few thanks
to all our referees who did a superb job
to our sponsors NTC (North Tower Consultancy). They have set themselves a target of achieving 1 million compressions to raise the profile of the importance of CPR and were able to bank over 50,000 this weekend thanks to our wonderful walking footballers
to Simon our First Aider
to Walkingfootball.com for attending and taking photos and doing podcasts
to all our wonderful volunteers
to the University of Nottingham for such a great venue
and to all the teams and players for making it such a great weekend
We all send Sandy from Braunton our best wishes and hope for a speedy recovery following her serious injury today
