Romford Walking FC are set to take on a 12-hour walking football event to raise money for leading men’s health charity, Prostate Cancer UK and Target Ovarian Cancer.
The club is aiming to raise £2,500 by playing walking football for 12 hours from 10am to 10pm at Romford Powerleague, King George Playing Fields, on Monday, June 16.
Romford are looking for teams or individuals who can help by coming down to the event and taking part – a great opportunity to try out walking football in a safe environment.
All games will have referees, all ages are welcome but under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Any team, group of friends or individual interested can get in touch and be booked in.
- Perfect as one of your Walking Football gifts for men and women, or bag it yourself, if you’re part of the elite club where “Walking Footballers Can’t Run” isn’t a limitation; it’s a lifestyle choice and one of the most important Walking Football rules!

Club chairman Bobby Kavanagh said: “We have had club members and friends who have had these cancers and are delighted to organise an event to help support Prostate Cancer UK and Target Ovarian Cancer and raise much needed awareness of these diseases.”
Seren Evans, head of Events and Community Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with one in eight getting diagnosed. We are so grateful for the dedication of so many people across the UK, who help Prostate Cancer UK fund lifesaving research to stop this disease damaging the lives of men and their loved ones.
“Everyone who supports Prostate Cancer UK has their own story, some heart-breaking and others heart-warming, but all united with a common aim to see a world where men’s lives are not limited by prostate cancer.”
