Looking for a fun, friendly way to stay active? Walking Football at the Layer Multisport Court offers a sociable, low-impact return to team sport. Perfect for those who may have left their playing days behind but still enjoy a challenge.
Rowhedge Walking Football Club, now based at Layer de la Haye, runs regular sessions for both men and women of all fitness levels, with no age restrictions. Whether you are retired, semi-retired or still working, the club provides an enjoyable mix of light exercise, teamwork and laughter. The special ‘three touch’ format keeps the game inclusive and tactical, reducing physical contact and injury risk while still getting the heart rate up.
Sessions run on Tuesdays (6-7pm) and Fridays (10-11am), with a gentler Starters Session 5-6pm on Tuesdays, ideal for beginners, those recovering from health issues, or anyone returning to activity after a break.
For the more competitive, there is a chance to join local Sunday friendly matches in spring and summer.
And when the sun is out, the club also runs Walking Cricket once a month on Monday mornings.
It’s just £5 per month, with a free taster session for newcomers.
No changing facilities, but there’s parking, floodlighting and a warm welcome guaranteed.
Wear comfy clothes and bring a water bottle. Also astro boots are recommended in wet conditions.
