The WFA October Newsletter includes the latest news on;
- The WFA and FA Partnership – In May, the FA approached the WFA as a potential partner, recognising our fine, award-winning and innovative development work over the last 7 years. We had three meetings with the FA, and these were initially very positive, with talk of a proper partnership to bring clarity to clubs and players and one voice driving the sport forward. However, the agreed plans for an equal partnership did not transpire, and the proposed FA funding was derisory.
- National Governing Bodies and “recognised Sports” – There is some confusion surrounding this topic within the Walking Football Community. We will endeavour to clarify the facts
- “THAT’S NOT WALKING” CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED – As a prime example of what NGB’s should do, we have launched this important campaign to address the sport’s major challenge. Details were released in the special campaign newsletter last month.
- “THAT’S NOT WALKING” CAMPAIGN – Survey results so far
- LOTG & UNIFICATION – WFA-affiliated clubs can influence and direct the important elements of the game, including the LOTG. We have been developing these rules over the last 7 years by listening to the players, and do not consider any further major changes are needed.
- NATIONAL CUP REVIEW – The WFA NTC National Cup had a record entry of over 350 teams this year, representing 9 years of continuous growth in the World’s largest and most prestigious Walking Football competition.
- WFA NTC NATIONAL CUP – Winners announcement and Over 60’s Final Video
- VOLUNTEERS WANTED – As we continue to grow, there are always opportunities to help the WFA maintain its pre-eminent position within the sport.
- REFEREES WANTED – The WFA have trained over 400 referees world-wide and they are generally acknowledged as the best in the sport.
- STRATEGY 2024-2028 – In the Autumn months the WFA Board will be discussing the strategy for the next 5 years.
- AWARDS SEASON IS IN NOVEMBER MORE RECOGNITION FOR THE WFA
