The SFSA is constantly seeking to expand its reach into areas of football that are perhaps not quite as well known as the senior game. And while it’s actually quite well known, Walking Football, or “the slower version of the beautiful game,” as it’s called, is expanding rapidly in Scotland, with c. 6,000 people (men and women) playing regularly.
In a few weeks’ time, the main event, the Walking Football Scottish Cup – or rather Cups, because there are several trophies for different age ranges, takes place.

On Saturday 7th June 2025, Walking Football Scotland SCIO will, once again, host the biggest walking football event in the world when 92 teams from throughout Scotland converge on Glasgow Green to compete in the WFS Scottish Cup & Festival which is sponsored by their charity partner, Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland.
The 92 teams will participate in 7 different age groups while the festival aspect will allow men & women, over 40 years of age, the opportunity to play in a non-competitive, fun environment to experience, perhaps for the first time, how wonderful the slower version of the beautiful game really is.
