STAGECOACH West Scotland has teamed up with Ayr United Football Club to support a new initiative aimed at helping people with dementia.
The partnership will provide refreshments and travel information for the club’s ‘Dementia Friendly Walking Football’ pilot sessions, which began on January 20.
The initiative, which is set to run for an initial six weeks, aims to gather a large group of attendees to continue the sessions permanently.
The first session at Shoot Soccer in Ayr saw a good turnout of both male and female participants, including some of the Stagecoach team.

Walking football is a slower-paced, low-impact version of the game, making it particularly suitable for older adults.
It offers improved cardiovascular fitness, increased muscle strength, and mental health benefits through socialising in a supportive environment…
Anyone who wants to get involved should contact walking football co-ordinator, Andy McInnes, on 07984 326056 or visit https://www.aufa.org.uk/walking-football/ to secure a space.
The initiative aims to offer free participation to ensure financial constraints do not prevent anyone from attending.
Stagecoach will also speak with participants, families, and carers about travel needs, guidance, and the benefits of applying for a free concession bus pass.
The sessions take place each week on Mondays at Shoot Soccer in Ayr from 2pm to 4pm.
