Snails Walking Football Club

Hi all my name is John Fitzsimmons together with Laurence Doughty we are starting a new Walking Football Club in Paphos meeting at The Fair Game Sports Centre in Tremithousa Paphos on Thursday Mornings between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. our first meeting is on the 8th February.

You may be aware that there are already walking football clubs in Paphos district, so what makes The Snails different ??

Walking Football was originally created for the support of physical and mental wellbeing of Men over 50 years of age and later for Women over 35, in a none contact and low impact sport that looks to promote Fun, Friendship, Fitness and Football. The Snails WFC is dedicated to the original concept and wishes to offer the sport in a safe environment to both Ladies and Men.

I am a qualified Walking Football Association U.K. Senior Tournament Referee and a FIWFA International match official/referee. The laws of the game will be strictly observed with Laurence will provide warm up, warm down + coaching including skills and drills practise.

We wish to open the club to health charities and organisations in Paphos and the wider districts for the benefit of those charities and the members, we wish to include Impairment and rehabilitation Walking Football sessions to help those coping with a condition or possibly recovering from a operation, to that end we have been asked to make a presentation to The Stroke Association as Snails WFC may be of benefit to those they help in recovery also Verity Care Hub, The Mind Spa and awaiting feedback from C.P.S.G. + Parkinson’s Association. Please contact us to recommend an organisation that you think we may be of help to or if you would like to volunteer to help us.      

There is no real outlay for those taking part suitable footwear and shin pads are a requirement, there is no cost to join the club. Neither Laurence or myself will receive any payment for our services. The players will need to pay a session fee to cover the cost of the pitch hire and we will cap that at 5 e per session but we are looking for sponsors to help cover the cost of the pitch fees if anyone would like to help.
