Our Community Champion for last night’s Premier League win over Nottingham Forest was Shervin, a season ticket holder who has supported Fulham for decades alongside his wife and now proudly follows both the men’s and women’s teams. Away from matchdays, family life plays a central role, with time dedicated to his growing family, including helping with school pick-ups for his grandchildren.
Deeply rooted in his local community, Shervin is an active member of his church in New Malden, where he supports toddler groups, helps with online services, and contributes to community food banks and Christmas hamper deliveries through Christians Against Poverty. He also remains active through tennis, serving as a director and club president at a local Wimbledon tennis club.
Shervin first became involved with Fulham FC Foundation after attending an open day session, which quickly led him to sign up for the weekly More Than A Game and walking football sessions with the Fulham FC Foundation.
After years of playing 11-a-side football, Shervin was forced to step away due to age and knee injuries, but his love for the game never faded. Having seen walking football at Craven Cottage during a half-time interval at a men’s match, he was keen to give it a try. When he retired from paid work in 2023, he decided to test himself — and he’s delighted to still be enjoying the sessions, finding the benefits far outweigh the aches and pains.
- Perfect as one of your Walking Football gifts for both men and women, or bag it yourself, if you think Walking Football is more fun with less run! Where the speed of your feet matters less than the size of your smile. That’s why Walking Football rules!

One standout moment came this summer, when Shervin took part in the Foundation’s end-of-season walking football tournament at Craven Cottage, even managing to score at the Hammersmith End on the hallowed turf.

For Shervin, the inclusive nature of Fulham FC Foundation’s sessions is what makes them so special. Everyone is valued and supported, regardless of background, age, gender, or ability. The strong sense of belonging and community keeps him coming back week after week.
“I just go to the sessions and have a great time,” Shervin said. “So, it’s amazing and I feel very honoured to be considered a Community Champion…”
You can join Shervin and others at one of our free More Than A Game sessions across South West London which currently run on Tuesdays between 2-3pm at Kingsmeadow in Kingston and Fridays 1:30-2:30pm at Canon’s Leisure Centre in Merton.
