EFL launches Scan to Smile campaign to help beat the January blues
Fans encouraged to scan QR codes at stadiums to discover uplifting community stories from club charities

Scan To Smile
The Scan to Smile campaign, a new feel-good initiative rolling out across EFL stadiums this month, is designed to spread positivity, beat the January blues and shine a spotlight on the lifechanging work delivered by club charities.
Posters displayed around EFL stadiums from 23-31 January will invite fans to scan QR codes, alongside codes on-screen during all live EFL games on Sky Sports, with each scan unlocking a short, uplifting story from a participant whose life has been positively impacted by the support of their club charity.
At Leicester City, we’ll be celebrating Jenny Read, a proud LCitC participant and founding member of the Silver Foxes group – a project aimed at people over-55 to help them keep active, make friends and reduce social isolation, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Her journey with our charitable arm started many years ago through the walking football programme, which she joined alongside her husband. What started as a simple way to stay active soon became something far more meaningful.
As their connection to our club deepened, they became founder members of Silver Foxes, meeting twice a month in the Community Hub on Filbert Way. Created to bring older supporters together, the group keeps members close to our club, and for Jenny it has been a source of laughter, conversation and genuine companionship.

That commitment was recognised last year as Jenny was surprised with a Community Hero award during a Silver Foxes session, presented by City striker Patson Daka. It was a proud and emotional moment, and a fitting tribute to the positive difference she makes to everyone around her.
But Jenny’s story is just one of thousands.
Every day, LCitC work with people of all ages and backgrounds, from across school pupils facing mental health challenges, to new arrivals finding their feet in Leicester. They also help people living with dementia, youngsters in temporary housing, primary school children, older supporters and more.
There is a programme for everyone. There is a place for everyone.
