On the 18-19th June 2024, RIP Walking Football Club hosted a 24-hour walking football festival in Muswell Hill in North London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the club.
In conjunction with Middlesex FA and Prostate Cancer UK, RIP invited 12 teams to come and play in a continuous Walking Football game over two days to help raise awareness of prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women.
Every player received either a Prostate Cancer t-shirt or one from Jnetics, a local charity that raises funds for cancer research. Information flyers were given out and clubs were asked to tell all their players about the importance of a yearly PSA test. We estimate that we have got that message across to around 2,000 men.
Over £7,000 was raised for our clubs’ nominated charity Prostate Cancer UK…
We aim to run an expanded festival next year on 18-19th June 2025.
