Today we reflected on the positives, and opportunities of development to further improve Newcastle United Foundation’s EFDN Walking Football League to ultimately improve the practices, standards, and experiences for all.

As a result of today’s reflection, we can confirm the following changes to the league’s practices:

Officiating Protocol:

All games will now have an allocated assistant official who will aid the main official during the game.

All Freekicks close to the box:

  • It was agreed when an incident occurs such as a foul or high ball just outside the box, that all freekicks must be taken a minimum of 3 metres away from the edge of the box to avoid congestion of players.
  • It was also discussed that in the situation where the referee has asked the team to wait for the whistle and they fail to do so they will be warned and allowed to retake the freekick as asked previously. A team failing 2 times to adhere to the referee’s communication of playing to the whistle will result in the opposition team receiving a freekick.
