Everton in the Community (EitC) will be hosting a Walking Football taster day on Monday 8th May 12-2pm at the Peoples Hub, Spellow Lane, Liverpool, L4 4DF for anyone affected by MS including those with an MS diagnosis and friends and family.
EitC’s Walking Football programme delivers fun, inclusive and low- impact walking football sessions for people living with MS in a welcoming and supportive environment. Sessions are delivered by qualified coaches at the EitC’s People’s Hub all-weather astro-turf pitch and are open to all regardless of age, ability or limited mobility.
The first half of the session comprises a full warm up and technical ball work to mobilise key joints and prepare the body and mind for activity. Training drills are focused on helping participants improve balance and coordination by ensuring each player has a ball at their feet and go at their own pace. The next element of the session involves fun teamwork challenges and small sided matches with lots of rest breaks in between games.
FOLLOW MEDICAL ADVICE: Participants are required to follow any medical advice given by their specialist, especially relating to exercise and / or medication. Participants are required to fill in a non- medicalised referral form prior to enrolment to assess suitability. Participants will also be instructed to bring any relevant medication with them to each session they attend. Additionally, EitC staff will meet with participants prior to engagement to introduce themselves, answer any questions, check footwear and discuss any support needs or distress signals.
Please bring emergency contact details with you.
