The community of Millom has been getting behind the new Andy’s Man Club as it prepares to open its doors.
It was announced earlier this month that the national mental health charity will be getting another branch in Millom, which will greet its first members on Monday, March 10.
Last weekend, Millom RLFC put the group’s work in the spotlight, with players coming together to wear special Andy’s Man Club t-shirts before their game against Egremont.
A spokesperson from the club commented: “We are proud to support Andy’s Man Club and put an end to the stigma around men’s mental health and spread the message that’s it’s okay to talk.”
Dean Myers is one of the people working behind the scenes to ensure the new sessions are a success, and will serve as a club facilitator to encourage other men to open up about themselves…
“Both Brad Crellin at MRLFC and Mike Betteridge at Millom AFC have been brilliant, and we have to thank the Millom Network Centre for giving us the facility for free.
“Then we’ve had big support from Millom Iron Works, the men’s walking football team – we’ve just had loads of people helping us to promote the club…”
Millom AFC will be using their game on March 8 to raise further awareness about Andy’s Man Club.
The club will open its doors on March 10 at 7pm at the Millom Network Centre, and will meet weekly after that.
