Derek Hattersley: The welcome mat was put out for us and we can honestly say the reception and hospitality we received from Peter, the Welsh FA, and the players was exemplary.
The facilities were the best we have played on and a credit to all involved on producing such a wonderful facility, occasion and friendly rivalry.
We came away having made new friends and demonstrating that serious medical conditions are not a bar on personal capabilities.
We have a great debt of gratitude too for the Welsh lads who collected £200 for a Charity of our choice, this was a very touching gesture and Gary is going to make a donation to the British Heart Foundation on behalf of the Welsh players and ourselves.
We give our most sincere thanks to everyone who made this occasion possible and hope we have struck up a continual friendship with Welsh Walking Football.
Stephen Bailey: We had a great afternoon at Colliers Park in Gresford yesterday.
A team of over 60’s comprising of one player from each club in the North Wales 60’s League played an English team comprised of players recovering from serious illness.
North Wales were 0-2 down at half time but came back to win a great game 3-2. Many thanks and congratulations to all those who played and came to support.
Thanks to our opponents for traveling and to Colliers Park for the venue.
Thanks mostly though to Pete Hazeldine who saw this project through from start to finish. A fantastic achievement.
We donated £200 to the BHF through the England team and have another substantial donation to give to a local charity.
