It was our first outing to Nottingham and The Walking Football Association National Cup.
The quality of the teams attending was outstanding and the matches were played in very very hot weather.
We lost Sandy Dillon early on to a nasty ankle injury which required a trip to A&E. Thankfully there is no break but she’s going to be on crutches for the foreseeable future. Huge thanks to all of the teams, organisers and players for their help, support, sportsmanship and kindness. We really appreciate it and it meant a lot to us.
The team played their hearts out and finished in the top two in the group to make it through to the Semi Finals.
We played our friends from Birmingham who always give us a great game. At the final whistle it ended 0-0 so we went to penalties. The teams were tied after 3 spot kicks so we went to sudden death and unfortunately went out at this stage.
We are however extremely proud to have only conceded 1 goal today scored by the fabulous Bolton Women and to have gone out of the tournament on sudden death kicks to the tournament winners Walking Football Birmingham & Solihull. Huge congratulations to them, well deserved winners.
We’re delighted that we were able to go toe to toe with some of the best teams in the country today.
Thank you to the WFA for hosting a great day of football
And finally Kate ‘Kato’ Bowskill you superstar, thank you for everything you did for us today and for managing the team so brilliantly. #TopCoaching
To all of the players who represented us today, thank you so much. I know lots of you are battered and bruised. Thank you for leaving it all on the pitch and for being the most amazing team. You are a real credit to Braunton FC.
