If you think your footballing days are over, then think again!

The MS Walking football session is designed specifically to help participants manage physical symptoms and other symptoms such as sleep problems, fatigue, mood and mental health.

Walking football sessions will target cardiovascular fitness using high intensity bursts of activity (via walking/jogging) as well as flexibility, balance, movement and coordination. As well as this each session will help develop a regular exercise or physical activity regime while also being with like-minded individuals harnessing camaraderie and peer support. Each session will last for up to 60 minutes including time for short breaks and coaches will ensure the session is geared at a pace that is suitable for all participants attending the day.

Sessions are suitable for those that have mild to moderate MS symptoms; this may suit those who are newly diagnosed or whose symptoms are mild or well managed.

Participants should be able to:

  • walk independently (with or without a walking aid)
  • stand from sitting (unaided)
  • balance unaided (or with support e.g. from a wall of chair)
