More than 800 players flocked to a Glasgow sports facility for what is said to be the world’s biggest one-day walking football festival.
The Walking Football Scottish Cup was held on June 22 at the Glasgow Green Football Centre.
The tournament was organised by Walking Football Scotland and sponsored by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS).
83 football teams from across Scotland gathered at the football centre to compete in the tournament across various categories…
Kenny McLean, president of Walking Football Scotland, said: “Saturday was another fantastic day in promoting walking football across Scotland.
“There are so many people within the sport who take it up because they’ve had significant events – be it heart attacks or strokes – and it’s the vehicle they use to get fitter.
There have been other people who have been playing walking football and after they’ve been playing they’ve had heart attacks and other health issues but it’s because of their fitness through walking football it’s actually saved their life.”
The tournament ended with winners receiving their awards from Jane-Claire and former international player Rose Reilly.
