A GROUP of over-65s are proving age is no barrier to competing on the European stage.
Gala Fairydean Rovers’ walking footballers, part of the club’s Community Trust, recently travelled to Mallorca to take part in the International Walking Football Tournament.
They faced teams from Germany, the United States, Holland, and France.
Craig Douglas, tour manager, said: “We were delighted to travel to Santa Ponza to compete in a series of fixtures.
“It was the first time we have taken part and it has certainly been a great success to the six brave souls who made the journey and we will be back in 2026.
“We have already had more interest from within our own squad for next year.
“The games were played in a good spirit and the atmosphere, particularly at the opening ceremony, was fantastic.”

The team, featuring Mr Douglas alongside Jimmy Philip, Jim McLaren, Ali Paterson, Ian Fraser, and Scott Bowers, played six games during the tournament.
They picked up a win against Berlin, drew with a team from California, and were narrowly knocked out in the final round on penalties.
