A first tournament organised by a West Fife walking football club has been hailed as a success.
Dunfermline Dynamos welcomed players from eight other teams to Pitreavie on Sunday for their maiden invitational competition, which saw former Pars hero, Stevie Crawford, on hand to present the spoils.
Formed in 2021, with only a handful of members on its committee, the Dynamos now have more than 70 players taking part in both competitive and recreational football.
Affiliated to Walking Football Scotland, they brought together sides from Dunfermline Walking Football, Fife Wanderers, Stenhousemuir, Oriam, Gala, Linlithgow Rose, Dunbar and Tayport for the event, whilst also fielding two of their own, the ‘whites’ and ‘reds’.

Played on a six-a-side basis, matches, which lasted 15 minutes each were played to full Walking Football Scotland rules, which include teams can be mixed gender, there is no jogging or running with or without the ball, it is non-contact, and play is three-touch.
Four qualified referees were also on hand to officiate and the teams were split into two groups of five, with the winners of each contesting the final.
Bobby Thornton, one of the Dynamos’ founders and committee members, said: “It went excellently.
“All the teams turned up and appeared to enjoy themselves. They played the matches in good spirits.
“We’ll sit down and go through everything but we are extremely happy.
“The emails we’ve had from guys at the other clubs have said it was well organised, very professional, and that they thoroughly enjoyed it, even if they got beat!”
Walking Football Scotland has around 6,000 registered players and the Dynamos play in east region leagues, with matches taking place at the Oriam in Edinburgh.
They have teams playing in over-50s, over-60s, over-65s and over-70s age groups, and play at Pitreavie from 10-11am on Wednesdays, and from 8-9pm on a Thursday.
