Saints Walking Footballers Tony Muirhead and Andy Durham won the Over-50s Men’s Regional Cup with Cindy Halliday enjoying success in the Over-50’s women’s competition
Saints Walking Footballers helped South West Scotland secure victories in national championships.
Players were chosen for the Over-50s Men’s Regional Cup and the Over-50s Women’s Regional Cup in Glasgow – and it proved to be a successful day.
Senior players Tony Muirhead and Andy Durham played in the men’s event held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, and Iain Wilson would have been playing alongside them had he not been injured.
South West Scotland men emerged as unbeaten champions, drawing 1-1 against South East, winning 2-0 against North East and beating Central comfortably 3-1.

Saints Women’s captain and player/manager, Cindy Halliday took part in the women’s event in the same arena. In a closely contested tournament, South West region came out top, drawing with North West in the final game to win on goal difference, by a single goal – making it an over 50s regional double.
