Mitchell Plain Walking Football Club members were among 20 squads from across the city, the country, and abroad, who took part in the weekend’s Cape Town International Walking Football Festival, at the Johnson Road sports complex in Athlone.
The weekend’s festivities included squads from Namibia and Germany.
The team from Gqeberha won the men’s and women’s divisions. Mitchell’s Plain walked away winners of the men’s plate section.
Organiser, Ruudi Abrahams, said the festival was all about promoting the city, building friendships and to encourage active ageing.
Most importantly, he said, it was all about growing Walking Football across the country and beyond. For more information about Walking Football or a club near you, call 083 998 0184.
