Following an inspiring presentation by Olivia and Luke from the joint initiative between Derby County Community Trust and the Derby Royal Hospital Parkinson’s Unit, the Rotary Club of Church Wilne was delighted to donate £1,000 to support the Parkinson’s walking football team as they travelled to Glasgow for a national tournament.
The trip proved to be a tremendous success, with the team proudly scoring their first-ever goal in competition.
To celebrate this achievement, Rotarian Martin Dowey attended the team’s recent Christmas party at Pride Park to present the cheque on behalf of Club President Stephen Street. Martin congratulated all the players and organisers not only on their tournament performance, but also on the remarkable progress the group has made through teamwork, dedication, and the positive impact that football and regular exercise can have on the lives of people living with Parkinson’s.
As a gesture of appreciation, Olivia presented Martin with a framed thank‑you recognising the club’s generous support.

This initiative represents just one example of the outstanding work carried out by the staff and volunteers of the Derby Hospitals Parkinson’s Occupational Therapy Team, who continually strive to improve the quality of life for their patients as they navigate the challenges of their condition.
