Cheddar women’s walking football team put on a strong display in the latest Somerset FA tournament.
The team faced stiff competition throughout the day, starting with a challenging match against Bristol Badgers, where they were only narrowly beaten by a single goal.
In their second game, Cheddar secured a victory against the SomerVale Flyers, coached by former coach John Portt.
Kerry Hayes and Julie Rogers each scored, showcasing the team’s dominance on the field.

The third game saw Cheddar up against Pen Mill, a formidable team.
Despite several attempts, Cheddar couldn’t penetrate the Pen Mill defence, largely due to their goalkeeper’s excellent saves.
A lapse in concentration at the back allowed Pen Mill to score an unexpected goal, marking Cheddar’s second loss of the day.
Game four was against Frome, a team that had already beaten Cheddar 3-0 in the league this season.
Cheddar put in a much better performance this time but conceded an early goal.
A significant setback was the injury of Sarah Williams, one of the team’s strongest players, who was unable to continue in the tournament.
Despite a strong performance, Cheddar lost 2-0.
